Description: This is a fine World War II U.S. paratrooper jump wing made by the Gemsco firm of New York that is in excellent condition. This wing is nicely struck and exhibits beautiful detail to the wings, shroud lines and canopy. The obverse is with a nice toned age patina and the toned reverse marked with “GEMSCO” on the reverse lower part of the right wing and “STERLING” on the lower part of the left. The reverse of the shroud is semi-hollow. The horizontal pin was at one time replaced in the original hinge ears by the original owner apparently after the original small hinge pin holding it in place dropped out. In addition, the roller lock was also modified by having the roller removed and the slot filled with solder so that it then became an open catch. Both modifications were obviously done during the war and do not at all distract from the overall appearance of the wing.5847
