Description: Neat & Rare Old Ingersoll-Rand Surface Condenser Building Department SignHeavy Alloy Metal (Maybe Brass) Approx: 16.5 lbs, Approx: 23.75" x 7.375" x.5"-.75" Thick Really a nice & heavy building mount sign. Has bold & deep embossed lettering. Not sure if it is brass or other but it is quite weighty. Not many of the Ingersoll-Rand signs around and none like this have ever been listed on eBay as we have records going back 20+ years. Not sure of the exact age of the sign as Ingersoll-Rand Manufactured these industrial Surface Condensers from at least the early 1920's and beyond as we found ads for such from 1924 & 1925. Surface Condensers are used in industrial thermal steam plants to aid in condensing the gaseous state steam heat from steam to a liquid form through water cooled tubes (and of course more can be found online about the processes and purposes for it).
