Vtg. Dorpian "The Quality Axe" Double Bit Head Embossed Clark Witbeck Est. 1870

Description: Vintage double-bit axe head that was made by Clark Witbeck Co in Schenectady, New York USA. It has a deep embossed graphic that brands it as "DORPIAN" and claims "THE QUALITY AXE". The graphics are of a star in the center that is riding on a moon crescent. The graphics are very nice around the star. The lower part of the star is damaged from use and there originally were the letters "CW" in the center of the star (for Clark Witbeck). Above the upper horizontal star lines are the lettering "Est" on one side and "1870" on the other side. There is also the number "4" stamped into the lower part of the axe near the handle opening.
