Description: Some artists/bands never live down their debut album (I thinking about you, Liz Phair), but putting the Femmes into that category wouldn't be quite fair. They've put out some great material over the years; it's just that when you write and record a batch of songs like the ones we have on the first album, you're creating something so timeless and iconic that you'll almost never be able to match it. Violent Femmes, the first record, is an absolute masterpiece. I love it all the way through, no skips. And the band is sort of obligated to play at least some of those songs every show. Like when it's time to do "Add It Up," Gordon Gano is put into the unenviable position of having to step up to the mic and start the song acapella-style. For those us who've seen 'em, you know what I'm talking about. From the first word (Dayyyyy), the whole crowd knows what's coming, and so everybody goes friggin' nuts. They carry all their instruments on the bus. And you can't f*ck with the Violent Femmes. Absolutely incredible band. And so here we have original vintage merch from the US tour in 1989. Vintage-y soft all the way down, a large Screen Stars--the slim_punk standard, and as you can see, it fits like an absolute dream: slim but not tight, nothing flaring, no flaws. This might be as far back as we go as far as authentic tour merch for the Violent Femmes, so don't hedge. You know this puppy's gonna get scooped up soon enough. Dayyyy after dayyyyy/I get angry/And I will say...Violently dope!
