Books are in overall good to very good condition. Exteriors have some scattered soiling as well as rubs to the outer corner edges of the boards and upper and lower ends of the spine. The front and back endpapers of each volume show soiling which is a paste which is dry to the touch and is there because a former owner tried to set down marbled endpapers over the blank publisher's endpapers which did not work over time, lifted and fell off; you can see some small remnants of this towards the inside margin of the front endpapers of The Return of the King where some marbled paper remains. Other than this the interiors of the books are very clean and tidy. Books' bindings are tight and well intact with small tear to the endpaper covering the back gutter hinge of Two Towers but not effecting the soundness or integrity of the binding. Books are complete with all pages present and none coming loose, detached or missing and have no odors. Fold out map is present and sits loose at the back of Two Towers and measures approximately 17 x 13 1/2 inches unfolded. The Fellowship of the Ring totals 423 pages, The Two Towers totals 352 pages and The Return of the King totals 416 pages. All three volumes together measure approximately 9 x 6 x 3 1/2 inches and together weigh about 4 1/2 pounds.
