Description: Vintage 1970s PROCESSED PLASTICS COMPANY Toy Army Tanks, Model 7520, USA. Set of two: one drab green and one khaki tan. Except for color and decal survival, these tanks are identical. Each is 14" with gun turret extended forward. Not counting the jutting gun, the tanks are 10.25"L x 5.25H x 6.25"W. Each weighs 12 oz. Shown with a standard soda can for relative size. The molded plastic bodies contain much embossed detail, such as an army shovel and two other field tools, gas tanks, and faux compartment doors--some with mock louvered vents. The turret manually revolves 360 degrees. The top hatch opens to reveal a helmeted gunner. When the turret is turned sideways, a large hatch in the rear lifts to expose an empty storage compartment. I used flash on the green tank to show how clean the compartment is. The stationary tracks are there for looks only. Both tanks advance freely on hard surfaces or low-profile carpets thanks to four wheels hidden from view. The khaki tank has two of its white star decals and one in front that says Desert Command. Its US flag decals are mostly rubbed off. The green tank, on the other hand, has its flag decals (showing some wear), its white stars, and a green decal on the front with "U.S.A. 55239326." The initial "J" was painted on the bottom of the green one so we could remember which tank belonged to which kid. My dad started collecting new and second-hand toys in the late 1970s. Used toys were mostly stored in tubs in the basement and ignored for decades. These tanks were among the exceptions; seeing that his grandsons were allowed to play with them in the early 2000s.
