She collaborated with Surrealist artists like Jean Cocteau & Salvatore Dali to create some of the most famed hats, dresses and scarves in History. Her designs are in collections of great museums of the world. Schiaparelli and Chanel were arch rivals in Paris in the mid 20th C. In the Sixties the House of Schiaparelli had extraordinary silk scarves made in Japan (as many couture designers did at the time as Japan's craftsmanshop was exquisite).This long silk scarf is a piece of Fashion History exemplifying Schiaparelli's passion for color. With hand-rolled edges and made of the finest silk (look closely at the twill!) this measures 59" long X 15" wide and is in wonderful condition w a subtle - barely visible -- teeny tiny mark near the label and a couple of subtle marks elsewhere -- hard to see in the elaborate pattern and no other wear.
