Description: Here is a very high grade and unusual U.S. Gaming Counter Charm. This large piece is made of golden brass and is in uncirculated condition. Its design recalls the U.S. fractional gold tokens and gambling counters of the middle to late 19th century. However, it is not denominated and shows no stated value. Token is neatly looped as made. This versatile piece could easily function as a pendant or jewelry item. This token sports an Athena or Spartan type form with the obverse design showing the bust of a Helmeted Warrior facing right. Perhaps this is Minerva. The reverse features Roman motifs. The high relief strike on this piece accentuates the richly detailed design. Beautiful! This token is made of yellow brass. Piece has a diameter of 29 mm excluding the bail. It weighs nine grams. This privately struck gaming counter is not a product of the United States Mint.
