You don't have to remove the wheel off the column however it is easier to do it off the column. Takes about 4-7 hours to install depending on your upholstery sewing style . October 2022 NEW VIDEO UPLOADED -showing the basic start to installing the kit The video is not professionally done but helps you get an idea what is involved without the removal of the wheel off column Leather and Materials The leather used is the industry standard original equipment automotive upholstery hides.It has the standard thickness .9- 1.2 mm thickness The thread used is the INDUSTRY STANDARD thread-a polyester / cotton blend thread of same thickness and tension as required of all auto manufacturers the last 40 years and will last for years Any thicker or too thin thread as "waxy threads "is NON EXISTANT in the application of any oe replacement automotive steering wheel . ( that sort of thing is found at a walmart generic cover ) Pre Sewn Option We also sell a presewn method that comes ready to sew up and save time, decreasing sewing time in about 2 hours time. Please add 10.00 for this option. You slide a needle between presewn thread and leather that was sewn along the edge of leather and you hook and loop every other opposing loop.
