These fighter planes are modeled after the North American Aviation P-51 Mustang, Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, and German Messerschmitt BF-109. Processed Plastic (Tim Mee Toy's parent company), first produced these airplanes sometime around the 1960's, and they were often packaged with the Tim Mee Toy Airmen figures and marketed as U.S. Air Force sets.
