Description: Complete four volume set of The Mahābhārata of Vyasa by P. Lal (Writer’s Workshop, 1968-1969). Beautiful and very rare editions of this sacred Hindu text, a spiritual epic poem originally written in Sanskrit. Hand bound by Tulamiah Mohiudeen with hand loom cloth woven in South India. Volumes 2-4 have removable clear sleeve over boards with title/info banner wrap, volume one is either missing this or was not published with one. Some chipping and tears around edges of most clear covers. Corners slightly bumped. Vol 3 has some small holes in covers and pages, apparently from bookworms. Pages tanned, especially vol 3&4. Just a few small marks in margins, otherwise all pages are clean and unmarked. Bindings are weakening but all pages remain attached. See photos for condition.
