The exploits recalled include the escape of Southern leaders to Europe; the death of Confederate Rose Greenhow as she sought escape from a runner under heavy fire in the surf; the gallant work of Colonel Lamb at Fort Fisher in his protection for the runners; the ship Banshee and her captain, Tom Taylor, who brought bacon to Robert E.
