ITEM DESCRIPTION: In this listing we have an extremely rare Swiss Ultra Thin pocket watch with specialty patented movement containing a 4 wheel train between barrel and escape wheel. This means instead of the regular 3 wheel train setup this watch has one more train wheel before the escape wheel. The movement bridge layout is of special patented design with all of the 4 train wheels lined up on the same center bridge with a separate escape bridge. In terms of thickness this movement is ultra thin but it has a extra long running time due to long mainspring that takes approximately 60 strokes to wind up full. In normal operating condition with a serviced movement it will run for full two days. The hairspring is white in color and the patent for the movement itself is from 1908 so it suggests that this is probably an invar type of alloy which is anti-magnetic and temperature resistant. The dial, hands and case are all original and it has a two hand design (no seconds hand) that is super classic and elegant. Condition-wise the watch runs well and keeps relatively good time for a watch of this age. The balance swings well and free so it is mechanically sound. However, we don't offer guarantee on the function or timekeeping. Cosmetically the watch is in fabulous shape with just slight tarnish on the gold-tone dial. The 18K solid gold ultra thin case does have some uneveness on the caseback and dustcover but nothing serious (no sharp ding or dents). Movement surface does have some tarnish and very slight rust spots here and there. Overall it is in very good shape for its age. Total weight is 54.9 grams and diameter is 47mm.
