The way I remember it. Checkers today don't say thank you. Great shots of old items. No longer on the market. Like Heinz spaghetti. Loved the prices. Entertaining for its humor, nostalgia, and big hair. Also great shots of 60's grocery stores. Release Date: 1965 Entered the Public Domain: 1994 Film 2: The Supermarket (1960s) FADED COLOR Runtime 10 minutes This Film has no spoken words but has a bouncy 50's music playing through out the film. This film, while showing some great 60's Supermarket imagery, seems to be more less a film (for supermarket managers?) of the worst customers all piled into one place. The food samplers, the weighers, the gangway cart drivers, they're all here. Quite amusing, for what it is. Release Date: 1960 Entered the Public Domain: 1989 Film 3: Behind The Scenes At The Supermarket (1958) COLOR Runtime 10 minutes How A Supermarket Is (Was?) Run. A get down to business film describing all the primary tasks that go into the operation of a large grocery store. The 49 cents a pound beef roasts and 2 lbs of apples for 39 cents are now a distant memory. Release Date: 1958 Entered the Public Domain: 1987 Film 4: Miracles From Agriculture (1960) COLOR Runtime 12 minutes A great film telling us about the many advances we've come in modern agriculture. What I like about this film is that it shows stuff we haven't seen before, like the preservation of Celery, radishes and even how on earth they make the "scalloped" or "mashed" dry potato mix you can get. Heck, they even show how they make Fried Chicken TV Dinners! So you have that, plus you have great supermarket imagery, of people shopping. Great to see the stores of the past.
