Battery & Power System; A dual voltage drive was added to run; the Laser, the backflash cowling light effect, and the blaster sound board. All Too cool. Dimensions of Stand (approximately); 3” x3” x1” thick with tallest aluminum armature extending about 4” high.Nichia NDB7875, in copper module with buck regulator, 3 W, @ 445 nm blue color laser (visible indoors and, outside at dusk/dawn/bright-at-night) visible range in the miles at night. Not cdrmaker1 Huge Heat-Sink Nozzle!!; Features 6065-T6511 machined heat sink/Nozzle. Great engineering and a lot of mass!! Aluminum Emitter/Heatsink 3.300” long (8.50 cm long). Lens deeply recessed (over 1.00” inside (2.70 cm) so it’s nearly impossible to damage the lens, and it keeps the lens clean! DTR’s G2 coated high power Laser Optics!!; Not just any laser optics in this unit. I invest the extra capital and get the DTR Brand G2 (coated Aspheric lenses) that have the best performance of any coated lens for a 445 nm laser such as this. I personally bench test the laser module & lens, then the lens is precisely adjusted at a target 10-0” away and locked in place with LocTite Blue. You need not worry about adjusting anything…..just point and press !! Not all G2 lenses are the same; both the lens glass formulations and coating formulations vary widely, as do the related costs. Nichia NDB7875 Laser Firing Time; I have never burned out an Nichia NDB7875 with this heat-sink arrangement. I found firing can be quite long, 15 minutes of use has not been a problem. Multiple long fires of 2 to 3 minutes have also not been an issue. Keep in mind you can always feel the external aluminum emitter to see if things are heating-up. A hot emitter may require a minute long rest. I took my other Nichia NDB7875 out on the Fourth-of-July and fired all night long (three sets of batteries) and while I got it to get good and warm, nothing burned-out. Phaser Finished in Matt Black; Screen Accurate Colors matched to my own giant Master Replicas prop; Special Custom Matt Black Body Finish Prep; Bondo Brand Filler followed by 3M Spot Putty for pits, Dupli-Color Clear Adhesion Promoter, Dupli-Color Primer. Nozzle and Heat-sinks in grained aluminum alloy. Magazine butt has cool graphics under lacquer. General Construction: This is build uses an Lexan (polycarbonate) phaser shell and modified stock sound board for light & sound effects. Lexan is used by many toymakers for “Kids-Toy” shells as it can not break and cause a sharp-edge that injures someone. Good for us in this application, and great for Cosplay...no damage worries. Shell is cleaned and sanded smooth, markings and shrink-pockets are all removed everywhere. Other visible indentations and screw holes are filled-in and sanded. Battery Clip on Phaser is unaltered thanks to new 3.7v high capacity LiOn cells. The custom lathe turned and polished/grained 6065-T6 aluminum Nozzle and Heat-Sink make the power statement for this exceptional prop. Assault Phaser Notes & CAUTIONS NEVER INSTALL BATTERIES BACKWARD this can damage the laser and I will charge to repair. NEVER SLAM THE BATTERY CLIP INTO THE HANDLE as this can bend the battery contacts and I will charge to repair. Battery Clip is marked with red dot and black dot for “+” and “-”. The batteries are also clearly marked “+” and “-”. Pay attention. The trigger has a sweet-spot for laser-only and laser-with-sound. Pressing the trigger HARD will not get you better results. Find the sweet spot so you know your prop. The laser will not burn your skin but will hurt-very-much if you shoot your finger at close range. Nichia NDB7875 Laser Firing Time; I have never burned out an Nichia NDB7875 with this heat-sink arrangement. I found firing can be quite long, 15 minutes of on-off use has not been a problem. I took my other Nichia NDB7875 out on the Fourth-of-July and fired all night long (three sets of batteries) and while I got it to get good and warm, nothing burned-out. This prop is shipped with TEST-BATTERIES so go buy some new ones. If you have any issues getting the new batteries to fit the clip; (a) check the diameter and length with something non-metallic, (b) if necessary remove the PVC battery wrapper (with care) from the LION battery.
