Description: so i know nothing about dishes, flatware, cutlery, place settings, table mats, napkin rings, etc etc.i looked these up and a lot of the listings for this brand put pewter in quotations as in "pewter". i do not know why. these suckers are heavy like pewter so why the "quotations"? they have the slight pitting on the underside as if they had been cast in sand like the pewter plates my ma used to have so.. i am unclear. please feel free to enlighten me.these have seen some use and honest wear from people actually eating food! off of them... there are fork (flatware) scrapes and knife (cutlery) scratches. there is a slight iridescent cast to some of the plates in spots/patches on the tops (polished) side of the plates. does pewter oxidize? unclear. please study the photos. they actually measure from about 10 3/4 to 10 7/8 across.. holler with any questions or answers. thanks for looking.douglass
