The Battle of Borodino (in French: Bataille de la Moskova) was the largest and bloodiest engagement of the French invasion of Russia and of all the Napoleonic Wars, resulting in at least 70,000 casualties. During the battle, the French Grand Army under Emperor Napoleon I attacked the Russian Imperial Army, led by General Mikhail Kutuzov, near the village of Borodino. Although the French captured the main positions on the battlefield, they failed to destroy the Russian army, despite heavy losses on both sides. PROOF condition in original box.
