Description: What a fantastic find for the Collector. A wonderful gift idea. We have yet to find a signature and seriously doubt one will be found. It is our opinion that this painted image was folded several times and then stored. At some point, it was affixed to artist board?, with a wooden slat at rear for hanging. While the image remains mostly clear and complete, the fabric (not the texture or feel of canvas) is rubbing thin in several spots. We have not translated the lettering as of yet. The aforesaid written in traditional Chinese. Please understand this in our opinion is a Regional/Local produced item not from the Political Office or Martha Sawyers. In our opinion this painting is better, its homegrown patriotism! The fact that the image is done in Traditional Chinese, is a huge plus. While you might compare this treasure to a poster of the same period, you’re undervaluing the piece as a whole. Please find us another for comparison in pricing. The idea that people are flummoxed over the painting not having a signature, is vexing at best. The fears of reprisals was huge, and nobody really signed any of these. We implore you to search the internet for another example. We have searched until the proverbial end and have found nothing remotely close in either size or subject matter. Items related to the Sino/Japanese War, World War 2 Chinese related items are getting harder and harder to find. This is a proverbial barn find, from Sussex County, Delaware. It was found with two (2) additional paintings of the same genre. We will be listing those separately later in the week. The paintings wrapped in plastic and covered with a heavy tarp. Being offered as found with most of the cobwebs removed. The family has no additional information on the paintings. While a family member was active during World War 2, they had never seen the paintings before last week, when they were brought to light. We have literally been researching these paintings, the last 9 days and can still tell you very little about the painting’s history or origin. There is very little information in English that we could find with relation to these “Propaganda” and or“Patriotic” painting. More research should be completed. The painting should be preserved. We have found NOTHING remotely similar via the internet after days of searching. A note about the quality of the painting. It’s extremely well done and full of life in our opinion. We would prefer to either deliver within 250 miles for a fee or pick-up in Sussex County, Delaware. They are oversized and shipping will be COSTLY and will require additional handling charges. We seriously doubt you will ever find anything like this again for many years to come.
