Turnabout' Walt Disney Dumbo Cookie Jar "14 in Leeds China Company Vintage 1940 Unpainted, solid cream color Material: Thick, heavy ceramic A very well-loved old cookie jar with 2 chips in the rim of the base, under the lid, a crack in ear, and multiple black dots on the face that feel like they are under the glaze. Dumbo’s figure appears on both the back and front thus the title 'Turnabout' One side of Dumbo is seen as 'trunk up' and the other side is 'trunk down' One side has a banner at the bottom of his belly that says 'Dumbo', the opposite side does not. Signed on bottom - incised in the ceramic - Turnabout Dumbo Walt Disney Size: 14" tall, Back story: The facts: This Walt Disney cookie jar was only marketed and distributed by the Leeds Co. of Chicago. They had the license to do so from 1944-1954. This cookie jar was mainly made at Ludowici Celadon Co. of New Lexington, Ohio and a few other companies. Leeds featured the 'Turnabout' cookie jar with one character on one side, and another revealed on the opposite side. The Dumbo jar was a double-sided jar with Dumbo on both sides. Original and new jars are both an off-white color. Most originals had multicolored decoration with yellow painted feet or shoes with blue, red and black used on the rest of the figure.
