Description: ORIGINAL! RARE! CIVIL WAR " MAJ. GENERAL GEORGE H. THOMAS " BRADY PHOTO CDV 1863 CIVIL WAR " MAJ. GENERAL GEORGE H. THOMAS " BRADY PHOTO CDV 1863 MAJOR GENERAL GEORGE HENRY THOMAS (b.1816-d.1870) American general in the Union Army during the Civil War and one of the principal commanders in the Western Theater. Thomas is generally considered the most underrated of all Civil War Generals from either side. There are a number of reasons for this: the single most significant is that he spent his entire career in the Western Theater of the War, which received very little press coverage in the major eastern cities. Although he was almost entirely successful throughout the War, he earned the nickname of "Rock of Chickamauga" for saving the Union Forces in that battle. PERIOD ID'D ON THE REVERSE: U.S.Grant (crossed out) Maj. Gen. Thomas CONDITION IS EXTREMELY FINE WITH SOME VERY LIGHT HANDLING FROM ITS 161+ YEARS. SEPIA VERY SHARP FOCUS AND VERY FINE CONTRAST. DIMENSIONS: 2 3/8" x 3 15/16" (please see pictures).THIS IS NOT A COPY OR REPRODUCTION. PLEASE SEE MY 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK AND BUY WITH CONFIDENCE.
