Description: Sheer Elegance -- This original, vintage 1920s dress was handmade of netting embellished with silk embroidery and bead work. The weight of silver metallic bead fringe all around the hem causes the dress to hang gracefully to create the slim silhouette of the day. Underneath is its silk crepe chemise, modestly trimmed with lace at the neckline and with lace at the hem. The dress is lavishly embroidered with silk floss and metallic silver beads. Little faux pearls (celluloid) are sewn along the seams. The sides are slit below the knees to allow free movement yet maintain the elongated silhouette. The closure in the back is a long line of little hooks. A close up of the bodice shows the dress as it looks with the slip underneath. This was made for a small woman. When worn by my mannequin, it barely closes in the back. The mannequin's bust measures 33" and just below the bust, 28". Both pieces are in very good, still wearable condition with NO tears, no holes, and no odor -- just these few issues: There are scattered stains of light brown, most visible on the slip, front and back, as shown. I've also shown the (very faint, and hardly noticeable) stains on the dress. I noticed a small area of embroidery loss on the bodice, and that's shown in a close up photo. There are a few strands of silver fringe missing here and there at the hem, and hardly noticeable.
