Description: Original Ink Drawing in Style of Charles Dana Gibson Signed Dated 1915 Original Ink Drawing of woman with fashionable hat in Style of Charles Dana Gibson Signed and Dated 1915, This is a gorgeous original antique ink drawing that depicts a woman wearing a fashionable hat of her time period (!915). This in the illustration style popularized by American artist, Charles Dana Gibson. This drawing appears to use the same stylized woman from the Charled Dana Gibson drawings, the model, Evelyn Nesbit, who was the "It Girl" of her day and became immortalized in Gibson's drawings and known as the "Gibson Girl". This drawing appears to be an original work of art, and not after Charles Dana Gibson, as the other listed drawing I have by this artist. This drawing is signed and dated 1915, monogram appears to be "B.P. W" (??) at central bottom area of drawing. There is an additional stamp or pencil signature that appears on the lower left corner that appears to read "WP Pritchard Jones", but I am not 100% sure. Charles Dana Gibson (September 14, 1867 – December 23, 1944) was an American illustrator who created the Gibson Girl, an iconic representation of the beautiful and independent American woman at the turn of the 20th century. He published his illustrations in Life magazine and other major national publications for more than 30 years, becoming editor in 1918 and later owner of the general interest magazine.
