Ten of the maps in the atlas are large fold-outs; the rest of the maps are full-page in size and are blank on the back, with no printing on the reverse side. Condition: The atlas is complete and intact. The contents are tight and in overall very good condition, with minor toning along the page edges and an occasional small, closed tear. The front cover has a few scuffs, not affecting the gilt embossed title. The book has been professionally rebound, with new endpapers and a handsome leather spine with gilt lettering. Please see the scans, and feel free to ask any questions. This is an original, authentic 1867 atlas, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine. Beers, Ellis, & Soule issued at least a couple of variants of their 1867 Atlas of New York and Vicinity. One replaced some of the New York maps with maps of towns in Connecticut; another included Dutchess County but not Putnam. This one includes Putnam County, or at least part of it, with the town of Carmel curiously labeled as in Westchester County. Frederick W. Beers, known for his county survey maps of New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Connecticut and Vermont came from a family of surveyors, cartographers and publishers originally from Newtown, Connecticut. His maps and atlases are proudly displayed in museums, libraries, and private collections. Buy with confidence!
