Gloucester/Cape Ann painter. {also know as Janet Reid Kellogg and Janet Kellogg Hodges Reid. *Exhibited Art Institute of Chicago, National Academy of Design NYC [prize], Paris Salon, American Water Color Society NYC, New York Water Color Club NYC.In September 1920, she married Frederic William Thompson, an employee of a company dealing in dairy equipment, but about eight months later, he was killed in a streetcar accident. For the next eight years, Janet studied and practiced art in New England, and Paris, France where she was a student of Grande Chaumiere, and exhibited in the Paris Salon. In 1929, she married Royal Kellogg, a former Wausau neighbor, and for the next thirty-six years, they lived in Yonkers, New York, and Wilton, Connecticut and then on board a sailing vessel specially built for them. They traveled extensively and Janet sketched and painted regularly, creating paintings from her on-site sketches in her studio in Palmetto, Florida. Kellogg died in 1965, and three years later she married Paul Hodges, who had known her through family in Wausau.Measurements: Framed; 21 x 18”. Canvas site; 18 x 14”. Provenance: estate of Foy C.
