Description: This is a very nice A. C. Gilbert Erector Set 8 1/2. It builds the giant ferris wheel. I had one of these as a child and became an engineer. I bought this set many years ago as a childhood memory. I selected this one because of its completeness and condition. The case is in good condition with just a few dents and scratches but is an original. The parts inside show some use but are all there and positioned as they would have been in a new set. The complete assembly book is included and is in good condition. It also includes an A. C. Gilbert catalog from this period which shows all their products. Also is information about this set from the publisher of a book on erector sets that may be the “bible” of these sets. There is a component list that shows what is in the box. The electric motor runs but I use caution considering its age. This would make a great display piece. It has generated many conversations! Or if you have a child or grandchild you wish to encourage a STEM career, this could be a great present! Non smoking home and office. Ask any questions. It is VERY heavy so shipping is expensive.
