The new color announced at NAMM 2024 is now in stock. DARKRAY is a model born from a collaboration between MUSICMAN and Darkglass, which was announced in 2021 and became a hot topic. It is equipped with a new 2-band EQ preamp designed by Darkglass specially for DarkRay. This preamp has three modes with very unique and useful sounds: clean, Alpha (distortion), and Omega (fuzz). These circuits can be mixed with the onboard gain knob and blend control, allowing you to control them to your liking. You can get amazing clean, slight gain, and ferocious fuzz tones without compromising the low range. You can check which mode it is in by looking at the bright LED ring and 3-way lever switch. And the biggest point of the model that has arrived this time is probably this coloring. The flashy sparkling gold changes color depending on the angle you look at it from, and it looks a little pink, which is one of a kind. Finally, the defining feature of the DARKRAY is its sound. You may think that you can get the same sound by using an Alpha or Omega outboard pedal with a Stingray, but you will feel a difference from the sound built into the onboard pedal. The difference is whether the distortion occurs after the signal passes through the shield from the bass and there is a slight change in sound quality, or whether the distortion occurs in a more natural state. With outboard pedals, it can sometimes feel like the low-frequency response, which is especially important for bass, is lost, but with the DARKRAY you don't have to worry about that. You will clearly feel the difference when you play.
