This is an UNBUILT, heavy paper craft model of NASA's Launch Pedestal Platform used for the Skylab and Apollo Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) for any 1/144 scale Saturn 1B model by Edu*Craft Diversions. Included: Set of 11x17 heavy paper parts sheets.1 CD with Procedures PDF.Intended to go with Apollo Launch Umbilical Tower 1:144 model, available separately, not included. Shown for display reference. The pad configuration was implemented to facilitate launch of the command/service module (CSM) into orbit for rendezvous. The Lunar Module (LM) was not used for this program. This auction is for NASA's innovative and resourceful Launch Pedestal (aka "Milk Stool") paper model kit only... Rocket and Launch Umbilical Tower are not included, but are available separately, right here on eBay. Their interesting and unique design in and of itself looks like a futuristic spacecraft in its own right. It can be displayed with any 1:144 scaled Airfix, Monogram, Revell, Estes, Centuri or Apogee model. Suggestions for desired scales can be emailed. The detailed model will require a bit of modelling acumen, especially for the fine sized pipes. But, it is designed to also allow for an easier, less demanding build, substituting facade imagery for formed parts, if desired. Backup parts are already included to allow for any mishaps. The fine detailing is reminiscent of those early 1960s Matchbox diecast, or Lionel Line small scaled models. The builder also will need to configure their individual Saturn 1B interfacing, as each rocket may vary in specific design. The pictured rocket (not included) is simply resting upon the hold-down supports. Build options are provided for it being either a free standing model, being a removeable add-on, or permanently affixed to the LUT. If some compromises are made, it can be modular with the option of being removable. If installed on an existing LUT, at least one swingarm will need to be removed, as well as other small structures and deck equipment. A rudimentary ficticious display pad and tower girder supports (not shown) are included. The pictures show the 2 of the 3 configurations, modular (without its removeable rear walkway) or free-standing. The permanently affixed version is not shown. This paper (28 lbs. test) model kit includes: 1 set of 11"x17" color laser paper parts sheets. 1 CD containing the Assembly Procedure Manual in PDF file. The stock is tested and deemed best for precision and other factors. After gluing, laminating, folding and assembly, it bears up strongly. Surprisingly robust, the Pedestal will support the weight of any like scaled Saturn 1B. If used for display of a flying rocket... the pad cannot be used for actual launching... Will require scissors, water based various color marking pens, cutting board, white glue, cardboard for sub-support on some parts, etc (Not included). But all color cover and graphics are included.
