Yes, I indeed said Admiral Elmo Zumwalt! The beautiful art work is painted on the tail rotor of a Huey UH-1B gunship. It reads TO: "V ADM. Zumwalt USN" FROM: "HAL-3 DET 2 SEAWOLVES, RUNG SAT SPECIAL ZONE". On the' top of the painted dragon "HOW ARE THINGS AT YOUR END OF THE SWAMP". The rotor blade is also adorned with the squadron's insignia. The bronze Seal's Trident sat on Admiral Zumwalt's desk. It is inscribed "ADMIRAL ELMO R. ZUMWALT JR.","CHIEF OF NAVAL OPERATIONS", "1970-1974" , on reverse "TRIDENT UNDERWAY", "49-47". There is also nomenclature embossed on the bottom of the bronze showing the ship that is was made, USS SPEAR, and is dated 1974. The L.Y. Spear was a submarine tender that served during the Vietnam War. The bronze measures approximately 8 inches in circumference and weighs 11 1/2 pounds. HA(L)-3 was a highly decorated all volunteer squadron formed in support of Naval Special Warfare operations and mobile Rivermarine Forces during the Vietnam War. By the time of their decommissioning 16 March 1972. The Seawolves flew over 120,000 combat sorties over South Vietnam and Cambodia. Over 200 Seawolves would be wounded in combat and 44 killed in action.
