I'm in my fifties and I remember it when I was growing up. Like I mentioned earlier it stands on the floor. My husband thinks it was made out of pine which was stained and then varnished. It has a door on the front which opens and there are 3 shelves (on the door) for holding spools of thread and also the main storage compartment. The overall measurements of cabinet is 11 1/8" X 10 3/16" X 24", and the inside compartment (not the shelves on the door) is 9 7/8" X 8 1/2" X 11". This is really a unique piece of furniture.
