FIRST PICTURE OF BLACK HOLE IMAGE BY EVENT HORIZON TELESCOPE 8x10 PHOTO PRINT

Description: First Photo of Black Hole by Event Horizon Telescope 8x10 Glossy Photo Print Image Credit: Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration / RMP Archive Photo Image Date: April 10, 2019 Image ID: ZZ0329 This is the very first photo by direct visual reference of a black hole, released on April 10, 2019. It is in the center of galaxy Messier 87, taken by the Event Horizon Telescope. It was captured by eight Earth based radio telescopes over ten days in April 2017. The telescopes captured a massive 5 Petabytes of data (500 kilograms of modern hard drives) as they captured observations throughout the Earth's rotation. Combining the data from all observations with an algorithm, the photo was effectively made by creating a telescope the size of the Earth, capable of seeing the equivalent of an orange on the surface of the moon from Earth. What is visible in the image are the red or orange gasses at the edge of the black hole, known as the event horizon. That glow defines the black hole in the center, by the inability for light to escape the black hole itself. This is intended to be the highest quality, most accurate print of this historic first black hole image. We have made the intricate and subtle adjustments to color gamut and brightness to maximize the visual qualities of this image for print, while keeping true to the original RGB transmissive light image. Computers alone still can't do this accurately with the bright yellows and reds like this on the black of space. What you will receive is a fine art quality print with the smooth gradations shown in our online image, printed as a true Silver Halide light exposed, chemically processed glossy photograph. For wall display, we highly recommend dedicated halogen or high CRI LED lighting to really make the image "pop." Sometimes we get prints shipped out within a day, but please don?t take that as precedent that we can always ship that quickly. Printing real silver halide lab prints has become challenging due to supply chain issues, and lack of parts when legacy machines break. Kodak has discontinued producing paper as of Summer 2023 (we currently use a mix of Kodak and Fuji papers), and machine manufacturers are no longer investing in the technology. While we absolutely love and are committed to this technology and art form over modern inkjet technology, the cost of doing so has become reliable turnaround time.Combined Shipping Discounts applied in cart during checkout. Our above listed transit times are more realistic. If you're looking for the highest quality photo available of this image, then I'm confident that you've found it. We actually do things different here, mixing the best of today's print and restoration technologies with old fashioned hard work and artistry. We pride ourselves on creating the best print possible. Since our start online in 2001, we've served more than 100,000 customers, and every one of them started by contemplating whether we were offering something special, something different from the competition, and something worthy of their hard earned dollars. We know that terms like "fine art," "premium," and "museum quality" are thrown around very loosely in this business, with most of those phrases just being marketing fluff. We use those words with intention, as what we feel are accurate descriptions of what we produce and what you will receive. I have bought from the competition, and I know that we are the best!We expertly retouch and restore old historic images to be as good or better looking than the originals. We start by finding the highest quality negative, print or digital file that is known to exist. Each photograph then gets individual attention from one of our print masters and is meticulously restored with special attention to color reproduction, contrast, exposure and dust and scratch removal. Each photograph is then printed, meticulously examined, and often times printed multiple times in order to provide you with our best work. The combination of expert artistry, today's professional print technology and premium materials, results in a museum quality fine art print that rivals, or in most cases exceeds, the beauty and quality of the original. At The McMahan Photo Archive, you are always buying the best!11x14 and smaller orders are shipped flat, sealed in archival plastic with a backing board to protect them until you are ready to display them. 12x18 and larger ship rolled.
