Description: INSANELY RARE & EARLY DAGUERREOTYPE CASE - ARSENIC GREEN PILLOW & RAILS - ODD SIZE NINTH PLATE1/9 PLATE WITH METAL HINGES - How do I know you are considering a very unusual and early daguerreotype case? Let me explain. First, the size is slight larger than what would become a standard ninth plate or before cases were made in standard measurements. Second, the interior green color is known to have been created with dye containing arsenic, so no licking the pillow...haha! Three, the sheer thinest of the case and the gem cut shape to the plain leather exterior are also indicators that this case would have been used by one of the first American operators. Here is the rare opportunity to add an extremely special daguerreotype case to your collection. I will post the interior dimensions in inches to the size image that could be added. I am hoping some collector or institution has an orphan plate that needs this Cinderella's Slipper to slide in your early image for safe keeping. Good luck to the winner of this unique and beautiful housing. CONDITION: Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of the image and as part of my description. Again, the case design is extremely rare. The housing retains the original metal hinges in perfect working order, both tiny working clasps and the matching green silk pillow and rails. The interior dimension of the felt rails are 2 1/8" X 2 9/16". The exterior has some normal surface wear, but excellent for being around 175 years old. I will carefully ship this item to the owner by way of U.S. Priority Mail. Please feel free to view my other items I have listed in my EBAY STORE!
