Description: COUROC of Monterey Cat Tray Plate Mid Century with Wood & Metal Inlay. Vintage 1960s. 10.5” diameter. I believe this is a new tray that was in a plastic sleeve in storage for decades. It has a few pit marks that I have highlighted in pictures. I believe they are from age. There are 2 small scuffs. They are not as light as the pics suggest, but show up because of strong lighting. The first picture shows it in normal light. The label on back suggests it was never used. The wood cat is in perfect condition. The tray has a nice shiny surface. Excellent overall condition for its age. Each Couroc design is a one-of-a-kind creation by a member of Monterey Bay’s world famous art colony. Couroc designs include abalone shells and see plants from Monterey bay, as well as rare coins, metals, and woods from around the world. Each piece of Couroc design is painstakingly hand inlaid. No two trays are exactly alike, each has its own character. Finished designs are permanently fused into Couroc’s own phenolic resin material under heat and thousands of pounds of pressure.
