Description: This is a very old high quality student lamp found in a old1890’s city home. I believe is was originally a oil lamp that was electrified many years ago. Due to the uniqueness of the power supply configuration (meaning it screws into a light socket usually found on the ceiling) it may be factory modification made for homes that updated the original gas lighting pipes with electricity. It still works however it is not safe to use, the wiring is extremely dry rotted and very brittle. I had to patch the wiring just to see if it would light, the light socket has a acorn pull chain that still operates very smoothly like the old Hubell Sockets. Other than light cleaning and polishing I have not done anything to change the patina. I believe it is a collector or museum quality piece. The glass chimney is not original it does not have any of the original glass. And I could not find any Bradley and Hubbard markings but my research says it is definitely B & H. In fact there is another lamp just like this one only it has been restored and is for sale here on EBay for $1600. The lamp is weighted so as to not tip over easily. Please ask any questions or if more pictures are needed.
