Hard to Find Original 1986 First Pressing of this great Classic / AOR / Progressive / Hard Rock album from Boston featuring Tom Scholz, Brad Delp, Barry Goudreau, Sib Hahian and Fran Sheehan. Includes the big hit title song plus “A Man I’ll Never Be” and more. In the Original Gatefold Cover with NO Barcode, Cutouts or Promo markings. On the Orange Epic labels. Includes the Original Picture / Lyrics Inner Sleeve. This is Santa Maria First Pressing as indicated by the Matrix / Vinyl Runout markings which read: Matrix / Runout (Side A label): AL 35050Matrix / Runout (Side B label): BL 35050Matrix / Runout (Runout bout side, Stamped): MASTERED BY CAPITOL Matrix / Runout (Runout Side A Etched): S PAL-35050 2B Wally C3Matrix / Runout (Runout Side B Etched): 1S PBL-35050 2AB Wally A102 CONDITION The Sleeve is in solid shape. There is some shelf wear, edge creasing and corner softening / wear. There is a small light stain in the front center and another little drop stain in the upper left corner where there is a name written. There is a 1/4” tear on the opening edge on the back of the gatefold and small initials written inside the gatefold. Still very solid with no splits, other stains, tears, other writing, cutouts, etc. and would rate VG overall. The Vinyl is in clean Glossy condition. There are some light scuffs, marks and faint hairlines - no actual scratches i.e. something felt with a fingernail. VG visually but plays mostly closer to VG+ with a few spots of light groove noise and a handful of soft tics. Might be further improved with a better cleaning than I can give with my Discwasher brush. The labels have initials written on side1, some spindle trails and a bit of wear around the spindle hole. The inner sleeve has wrinklingand two sides are part split. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words: Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them.
