Description: Empty 4/5 pint bottle of "Black & White" blended Scotch Whisky. (Whiskey). This one's date is difficult to pin down. The tax strip is one that was used from 1934 to 1960. The label say "By Appointment to H.M. The King", and King George VI's reign ended in February 1952. So the best guess for the date of this is between 1934 and 1952. There are markings on the bottom of the bottle: N8 is visible in the center bottom, and there's something above it but it's too faint/lightly embossed to make out even when adjusting the contrast in a photo editing app. I couldn't even get a good enough photo to show there's something there, it's so faint. I could be imagining it. There's a 1, or an L, off to the right on the bottom, with maybe something next to it (again, to faint/lightly embossed to tell). The label with the dogs has a little crease off to the left and the label there isn't sticking to the bottle. Various scuffs and discolorations in the labels as shown in the photos. When my father was young, he thought these old bottles were interesting, so he saved the bottle whenever his parents would finish one. On that basis, I'd say this is mid 1940s to early 1950s but there's nothing on the bottle that would substantiate my guess. Calvert Reserve Blended Whiskey half pint empty bottle. There's a remnant of the ... plastic? ... top seal remaining; it does not want to stay on the bottle. Almost the entire revenue strip is present; it's the "Series III" style that began in 1945. The front and back labels seem to be in pretty good shape, although the back label was applied a tiny bit over the 'half pint' embossing and so it's got blemishes and wrinkles. Markings on the bottom of the bottle are easy to see: 13 in the lower left, D-126 in the center, 46 in the lower right, and what I'm pretty sure is the Anchor Hocking glass company logo in the upper right, as it's a large H superimposed over an anchor. Since 1962 they've been in a box at the house I grew up in. The best date I can give this is circa 1946 based on the bottle date.
