Description: Beyond the Gates of Antares - Boromite Matriarch Summary: Set of unpainted miniatures for Beyond the Gates of Antares. Beyond the Gates of Antares is a new science-fiction skirmish wargame that pitches technologically advanced human civilizations into a conflict that no one can afford to lose. The game is rich in detail and extremely ambitious in scope with initial rules and army lists that describe six different Antarean factions: the PanHuman Concord, the Ghar Empire, the Isorian Senatex, the Algoryn Prosperate, the Freeborn Vardos, and the Boromite Guilds. Beyond the Gates of Antares game play makes use of the successful and exciting dice activation system first pioneered in Warlord’s popular Bolt Action WW2 wargame – ensuring that both sides remain active and engaged throughout every game. Resolution is by ten-sided dice offering considerable expansion and great range of detail compared to traditional six-sided dice The Boromites are a sinister power hidden amongst civilized societies, dangerous and insular, distrustful of those outside their close-knit Labour Guilds. Their gnarled armored skin and great physical endurance was genetically engineered thousands of years ago to create a race of tough asteroids miners insensitive to extremes of temperature and brutally strong. Today they form an itinerant work force, homeless wanderers and hardened warriors loyal only to their own kind. As humanity spread rampant across all of Antarean space, colonies arose upon a vast variety of worlds - each uniquely dissimilar to Earth. Over generations, these isolated populations evolved to suit their situation - breathing alien atmospheres, enduring unimaginable pressures and gravities. In many cases, these evolutionary advancements were artificially accelerated by geneticists - giving a vast array of types, sizes, shapes, and colours of humans across Antarean space... The primary goal of a Boromite clan is to work and amass collective wealth, and to this end they seek employment doing all the dangerous, difficult, physically and psychologically demanding jobs that are beyond the capabilities of ordinary humans. It is the Guild Mothers who determine whether a contract is acceptable, as well as other decisions such as if their clan needs to move on or divide, or whether transgressors should be punished and how. Although in theory the Rock Fathers take precedence over the clan’s Guild Mother during times of war, in practice it would be a very courageous Rock Father who acted against her wishes. The matriarchs expect their menfolk to advise them and take control of fighting forces on their behalf, but not to defy them! Boromite clans are strongly matriarchal in character and are led by the oldest and strongest female, known as the Guild Mother or Matriarch. Other powerful females called Guildesses commonly attend the Matriarch herself, forming a cadre of subordinate leaders and potential future Guild mothers. Boromites hold their Matriarch in a respect because she is likely to be the mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother of many of them. Matriarchs commonly conform to the Boromite concept of 'enormity' which is to say their great status translates into sheer physical bulk - a very impressive and desirable thing if you are a Boromite. For this reason Matriarchs are carried in splendour upon a suspensor platform. In addition to her most favoured attendant Guildess, the Clan's heir apparent, the Matriarch is protected by aerial gun-drones armed with deadly plasma carbines. The Matriarch is a Tactical Entry in the Boromite Army List, and a potent leader - whether taken as an addition to your existing Mining Guild, or as the centerpiece for a new army project! The Boromite Matriarch box set contains the Matriarch herself, sat atop a Suspensor Platform - one Guildess, and two Weapon Drones - each armed with a plasma carbine. All models are metal. Boromite female commander. Multi-part metal miniatures. 28mm scale. Pack contains two Boromites and two drones.
