Developed and manufactured by German aircraft company Rhein-Flugzeugbau GmbH (RFB), it has been used by the Luftwaffe and Royal Thai Air Force. The aircraft was created in two versions - Fantrainer 400 and -600, differing mainly in the power plant. The Fantrainer 400 uses the American Allison 250-C20B turbo engine (power 420 hp) as a power plant, and the Allison 250-SZO (650 hp) on the Fantrainer 600.
