Description: ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE REDWARE SMALL OVOID POTTERY GLAZED FOOTED JUG/FLASK. COMES FROM SOUTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA BERKS COUNTY ESTATE AUCTION (NOT FAR FROM PHILADELPHIA, PA). CIRCA EARLY 1800'S TO MID 1800'S. I BELIEVE THE JUG WAS DOUBLE GLAZED OR POSSIBLY REGLAZED AT SOME MUCH EARLIER TIME.FIRST GLAZE APPEARS TO BE MEDIUM BROWN AND THE TOP GLAZE IS A MUCH DARKER BROWN. SOME GLAZE IS MISSING WHERE I BELEIVE THE HANDLE WAS REMOVED AS SHOWN IN PHOTOS 4, 5, AND 6. MEASURES 7 1/4" TALL. WIDEST POINT IS 5 1/2". BOTTOM IS 3 3/4" WIDE. TOP FROM LIP TO LIP IS 1 3/4" WIDE. OVERALL, A VERY NICE EXAMPLE OF EARLY PRIMITIVE REDWARE PIECE.
