Gu Jingzhou (October 18, 1915 - June 3, 1996), originally named Jingzhou, later changed his name to Jingzhou. Also known as Manxi, Shouping, Wuling Yiren, Jingnan Shanqiao, self-proclaimed Husou, Laoping, Chinese Arts and Crafts Master, Yixing Zisha Artist, and member of the Chinese Artists Association. In 1932, Gu Jingzhou learned the Zisha craft from his grandmother Shao. In 1954, he was the first person in the Yixing purple sand industry to respond to the national call and actively participate in the preparation and construction of the Shushan purple sand factory. In 1955, he served as the production director and technical consultant of the Shushan purple sand craft society. In 1959, he served as the deputy director of the purple sand factory technical research institute. In 1980, he participated in the establishment of the purple sand art class, gave lectures, and copied famous works of past dynasties. In 1982, he was named a craft artist. In 1983, he served as the director of the purple sand research institute. In 1988, he was awarded the title of "Chinese Arts and Crafts Master". In 1989, he was promoted to a senior craft artist. In 1991, the book "Yixing Purple Sand Appreciation" edited by him was published. This is the first monograph written by a purple sand artist in the history of purple sand. At 4 pm on June 3, 1996, Gu Jingzhou died of lung failure caused by emphysema at the age of 81. Gu Jingzhou has made great achievements in pot art, with superb skills and a wide range of materials.
