Description: Antique authentic Indonesian Kris purchased on Sumatra in the 1920s by my Dutch Father-in-Law. This piece is likely older and bought as vintage at the time. Carved Metal Sheath. See details in photos. Heavy wooden handle. Very well made and attractive piece likely from the Dayak tribe. A fine keris (Indonesian way to say kris) was the epitome of a man’s work because it was supposed that only he with great power could control the magic of the iron. Kris measures 18 1/2 inches long by 6 1/2 inches at widest. Blade is 1 3/4 inches.
