Description: Very nice antique Indian Chief composition doll in a head to toe painted canvas outfit. The doll features a hand painted face with fabric thread hair. The outfit is painted canvas and covers the entire body and legs, with the feet, arms, and hands being separate canvas pieces. The vest is a separate piece. The head dress features braided yarn braids. Measures about 10 1/2" tall head to toe With the canvas head dress extended measures about 12 1/2" tall. The canvas on the head dress shows wear and paint loss. There are a couple tears in the vest. The right leg appears to have been completely detached and then reattached some time ago. There is a tear on the front from the crotch to the waist. The face is in great shape with no chips, cracks, or issues. A great early American Indian doll that displays very well.
