Description: Here we have a bottle from the early 1900’s labeled IDAN-HA Lithia Water from Soda Springs Idaho. Looking at the history we see it was a very popular beverage in the 1800s but also had the misfortune of burning down in 1895. It was then rebuilt and continued after that for some time. The problem is that this is the wrong bottle. The company used the green bottle with the blobby top common to mineral waters of the day. This bottle is a beer bottle from the same era. As a digger, it was common to find bottles that were re-used by vendors during the lean times. For example I have seen beer bottles used for soda water and bluing. All you had to do was slap your own label on it. The bottle itself is attic mint and the label looks original to me. So the question becomes “was this indeed refilled by the company or did a collector with an old label stick this on for added effect?” You decide. The bottle is a rich amber standing 11.5” high and 3" across with a hand made crown top. It is very clear and clean and full of bubbles consistent with its age. The label is still bold but has damaged edges. The bottom is embossed S B & G CO 12. In any case, it's an interesting example of the mineral water label.
