Description: Excellent antique Hudson River School fall scene with sailboats, figures and wooded hills amidst a gorgeous reddish-pink sunset. Red skies at night, sailor's delight! Colorful oil on canvas with beautiful antique deep-set gilt gesso frame that is likely original to this piece. Late 19th to early 20th Century. Appears to be unsigned/did not find artist's signature. Frame measures 34 3/4" by 27 3/4" with a depth of about 2 1/4"; Sight measures approximately 29 3/8" by 22 3/8". Canvas in near excellent antique condition with a couple very minor small, light scuffs noted. Possible age-related toning and may benefit from a light cleaning. No noticeable craquelure to canvas. Frame in very good original condition with some minor, stable craquelure and very small areas of gesso loss at corner tips. The colors in this painting still pop, especially when presented in the right light.
