Description: Very interesting group of antique folk art drawings of a Union Pacific steam locomotive and three coach cars in great all original condition. All four of these antique drawings have been conservatively reframed with matboard to protect the artwork. They appear to have been done with pen & ink and water colors. The Union Pacific locomotive #3166 is a 2-6-2 steam locomotive. The 3166 designation is repeated on the front head-light, the steam hump and the side of the coal tender. The drawing shows numerous fine details and the lines are very crisp. This drawing is dated "January 24, 1928" at 2 place. The frame dimensions are 25" x 8 1/4". The "Chicago Milwaukee & St. Paul" coach car again has lots of interesting details and the colors are very pleasing. The coach car also has the #3116 designation. This drawing is dated Oct. 5. 29". The frame dimensions are 21" x 8". The "Chicago Great Western" #507 "Cafe Parlor Car" is the earliest of the four drawings. This is dated Jan. 30 1922 and is the most primitive of the group. This is done on a more course paper and shows a little edge damage. The frame dimensions are 20" x 7 3/4". The "Pullman" car has "Abeville" on the side. The colors on this drawing are very pleasing. This drawing is dated Oct 11 - 27.The frame size is 20" x 7 3/4. You have to think these were all drawn by the same person, however the fact that there are three drawn in 1927, 1928 & 1929 and the earliest one in1922, why the big gap in time. Was the earliest one done by a father and then the later three by a son? Was the artist off to the Army or college, who knows. Anyway, they are all very nice examples and make for a wonderful wall decoration. These are true examples of American folk art, you will not be disappointed with these fine antique drawings.
