Description: From a local estate sale: an antique silk handkerchief trimmed with blonde Maltese lace border. The handkerchief measures 11" square, with a rounded center 6" across. The center is definitely a light woven silk. It is trimmed with a wide border of Maltese blonde lace; the corners have clusters of Maltese crosses, with a 1.5" border having another cross in the center of its design. I examined the lace and cannot tell if it is made of silk or rayon thread - the lace is a bit coarse in thread texture. A few of the brides are missing, as shown in the closeups. The lace does have a nice sheen and is intact despite the broken connectors. This still has a gorgeous antique look, with no stains or pulls on the silk center, and the lace is holding together. I am listing it at a bargain price because of the imperfections, but it is still lovely.
