Description: This is a beautiful and rare American Impressionist Tonalism painting acquired on a trip down South many years ago. It depicts a moon rising above a wooded forest, which casts a ghostly and haunting green glow over the trees. A beautiful and unique work in all respects. Writing on the verso states βThis picture framed on 5-26-1934 at Hammer Co. in El Dorado, Ark. by Troy Bishop.β My guess is that this painting depicts the Appalachian Forest. Signed βMaloree Aldersonβ in bottom right corner. Lighting in photos varies, but the first picture is accurate of the actual colors. A very unique example of 19th c. Tonalist Regionalism painting.
