Antique Burleigh Ware Pottery Soft Blue Floral with Colorful Red Rose Bands Lidded Jam Jar Approximate Dimensions: 2.75" x 2.75" (Opening) 3" (Tall with Lid; 2" without Lid) 1.5"x1.5" (Base Footing ) Maker: Burgess & Leigh Pottery Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, England Circa: 1906-1912 This is an antique Burleigh Ware pottery lidded jam jar made by Burgess & Leigh Company in Burslem, England, circa 1906-1912. It has a soft blue floral background highlighted by two multicolor bands of red roses and green petals. The body of the jar is round-cornered and slightly fluted and bulbous. The finial is flower shaped. Burgess & Leigh have been in operation since about 1862 and was acquired by Denby Holdings the parent company of Denby Pottery about 2010. The logo on the bottom exterior center of the piece was used by Burgess & Leigh from 1906 to 1912. The globe-shaped logo says "BURLEIGH WARE" above the globe with "BURGESS & LEIGH" and "BURSLEM" in bands across the globe, and with "ENGLAND" below the globe. The brand "Burleigh" was derived from a combination of "Burgess" and "Leigh." Condition. This lidded jar is in excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations. There is some some gold loss on the trim inside the jar where the lid sits, as would be expected with age and light usage. A wonderful, scarce, and exciting find!
