Description: Offering an antique, early original Skookum Doll by Mary Dwyer McAboy, This doll was made in the early 1920s. The face which was originally carved apples had migrated to composite at this time (due to moisture rotting the apples) but the bodies remained stuffed with twigs and grass. The body of this female Skookum with Papoose is stuffed, and the legs and feet are made of wood. The wood feet are covered with hand beaded moccasins. Her Hudson Bay-style blanket is a faded blue and white with what looks like a Thunderbird design. Her face has spots of peeling of the top layer of composite. Her hair is a bit displaced revealing a bald patch on top of her head (actually I think one of the braids here just loosened a bit and could be pulled up and re-glued). Her Papoose hangs on her back in a wrapped cradle suspended by a beaded wire around her neck. She is 12" in height with mohair hair and is as you see her. Over 100 years old, faded and worn, but all there with her beautiful child and sweet but tired, expression. FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING! Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
