DECORATIONS By VIRGINAI KEEP. Howard Chandler Christy was born on January 10, 1873 and died on March 3, 1952. He was an American artist famous for the "Christy Girl", similar to a "Gibson Girl". He painted many scenes of the Signing of the Constitution of the United States. A large number of his work is on display at New York City restaurant Café des Artistes - they include six panels of wood nymphs and paintings such as The Parrot Girl, The Swing Girl, Ponce De Leon, Fall, Spring, and the Fountain of Youth. Christy was a very famous American writer and poet who was often called the "Hoosier poet", and America's "Children's Poet." He started his career by writing newspaper verses in Hoosier dialect for the Indianapolis Journal in 1875. CONDITION: The book is without a dust jacket. The outside is in real good condition.
