Here we have a very attractive cut and polished half of an ammonite (3.80 inches diameter) that is late Jurassic (160 to 140 million years) from Mahajunga+ Madagascar. This is an aesthetic fossil ammonite specimen. It is a nice looking display piece and the internal structures are clearly visible. The interior is made up of calcite colored by various iron compounds. This is a 'larger than average' ammonite specimen. Photography All of our photos are taken with a 75Watt GE True White incandescent bulb. (unless otherwise stated).
